15TH Asian Women’s Film Festival

A festival first held in new Delhi in 2005 is now a travelling festival and popular with filmmakers and viewers alike. The 2-day festival package this year includes feature as well as documentary short films, animation films and section of audio documentaries (something unique). Various theme sections are Love, Marriage and Relationships, Border, Homeland and Country, All Women Families, Women Working in the Media. Make time to see some or all the films! WORKSHOPS
Pencil to Portfolio: Benefit from this intense visual arts program over weekend sessions, they will cover theory and introduction to mediums of art in six sessions. This includes basic sketching, introduction to oil pastels, water colors, acrylic and color theory and more, the workshop is facilitated by Rajendr Usapkar and Siddharth Gosavi. Mindfulness in Legal Interactions: This is an Offbeat Goa initiative and will see an hour long talk by advocates Adit Pujari and Kriti Awasthi. They will share advice on being mindful in legal interactions, focus on things to keep in mind during investigation interactions in a crime, as accused or witness, documenting injuries and events, things to keep in mind while entering into a contract as an employee or while starting a business. COMPETITIONS
Fundacao Oriente Short Story Competition: Amateur and profession writers may enter this competition, it is open to anyone 18 years plus, plus and customarily residing in Goa. Short stories may be written in Konkani (Devnagiri, Romi), Marathi, Portuguese or English. The script should be original, unpublished, maximum words 3,000 words. Details: Submit your entries to Fundacao Oriente office at Mala, Panaji, last date for acceptance is Aug30.

TALKS
Gandhi & India’s Future: In Sunday MOG Series Tridip Suhrud and Vinay Lall will engage in conversation about various aspects of Gandhi’s thinking. This is to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mohandas Gandhi, who played a key role in India’s independence. Suhrud is writer, translator, and director of the Sabarmati Ashram and Conservation Memorial Trust from 2012-2017, while Lall is cultural critic and professor of history at University of California, Los Angeles.
