Festival of LORD GANESH

Chovoth/Ganesh Chaturthi commences come Sept 2 with Goans weaving matoli canopies, making or buying their Ganesh idols for worshipping and celebrating this much-loved popular festival in Goa. The week-long celebration will see ancestral homes being cleaned up and decorated, dozens of sweets and savouries being prepared and family, extended family and friends meeting up for an annual experience of togetherness – fasting, feasting, paying homage to family deities along with Lord Ganesh, in the evening participating in folk dancing fugdi and entertaining the children with stories of Chovoth as in the good old days. The annual markets down Campal Promenade and at Banastari are teaming with folk purchasing traditional Chovoth fruit, flowers, leaves, an assortment of goods required for Ganesh puja and celebration.
The Atal Gram Development Agency – Goa will be organizing two days ‘Netravali Matoli Bazaar 2019’ at Lohia Maidan , Margao from August 31, 2019, to September 1, 2019 from 8.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m. Rural women (Self Help Groups) will be participating in the said Bazaar. This Bazaar has been organized with the sole Purpose of inculcating entrepreneurship among the rural women.
The Bazar will be inaugurated by the Deputy Chief Minister Shri Chandrakant Kavalekar in the presence of Leader of Opposition Shri Digamber V Kamat, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) Shri Francisco Sardinha, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) Shri Vinay Tendulkar and MLA (Sanguem Constituency) Shri Prasad Gaonkar among other dignitaries.

Glenn Perry Concert: Glenn Perry is up again and all set to perform in a unique concert for the cause of cerebral stroke patients. His upcoming plans also includes 125 shows to raise awareness about brain strokes following his own experience recently while in Goa. The concert is also a memorial concert for his famous father Chris Perry and wife Lily Perry. Groove Dakshina Band Incubator: Here is a unique performance by band Groove Dakshina which plays a mix of popular numbers and laces music with new and experimental instruments interactively with an audience. ADVENTURE
Bungee Jumping is here in Goa now! This is an extreme adventure sport introduced recently by Goa Tourism at Mayem Lake in Bicholim. The facility features a 55-metre tower over the beautiful lake to serve as a jumping pad for those who love getting a jumping high and landing in cool water. The site overlooks green fields, forested hills and is restful for picnics and sporting activities. Trained staff help aspiring and veteran bungee jumpers through their paces, all jumpers have to wear a harness and read the safety rules. Some of the jump masters who will be supervising amateurs have trained in New Zealand and are veterans of bungee jumping. Ex-army officers will also monitor the sport. All equipment and safety gear meets Australia and New Zealand safety standards. Needless to say bungee jumping is catching fire in Goa judging by youngsters who’re making a beeline to Mayem Lake! There are locker and cafeteria facilities at the site so no worries…jump away! Venue: Mayem Lake, Bicholim. Time: 9.30am to 5pm.
