IHCL ON THE MOVE ANEW!

If you’re going to Sikkim you may be interested in this bit of news. The Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) which is largest hospitality company has signed up its second hotel Sikkim. The hotel is located at Pakyong, Gangtok’s neighboring town and a short drive away from the new Pakyong airport. It is spread over 3.5 acres and situated located amidst thick forests on a hilltop with stunning valley views.
The new 50-room Vivanta in Gangtok is based on a management contract signed with Skipping Stones Pvt Ltd and commenting on the signing, IHCL Executive Vice-President (Real Estate & Development) Suma Venkatesh says, “Sikkim is a very famous for its ecotourism – trekking, mountaineering, river rafting and other nature oriented offerings. IHCL’s second hotel in Gangtok demonstrates our commitment to the region, taking out ally to 11 hotels across our brandscape.”
The IHCL now has 11 hotels in the North East region, West Bengal and Bhutan, including five more under current development. The company has set a goal of having a Vivanta in every state capital so that it touches 25 hotels by 2022. The Vivanta chain is one of their fastest growing popular series of hotels.

Swaryadnya: The Swastik Cultural Association is organizing its 11th edition of music and talks – featuring vocalist Dr Pravin Gaonkar and singers learning music. If you wish to listen to riyaaj and participate in it attend the accompanying workshop. Famous orator Dr Sanjay Upadhye will also deliver lectures on lifestyle and happiness during this three-day event. Dr Ashok Marwa will talk on pranayama and the science behind it. Serendipity at Old GIM: Although the 4th Serendipity Arts Festival concluded with a record success festival organizers have decided on popular demand to continue with the exhibitions at the Old GIM at Ribandar for public viewing until January 15, 2020. If you’ve missed the exhibitions here is your chance to take a dekho of them over the New Year season.

7th Young Xpressions: This art exhibition for the cause of animals is curated by Vrinda Agarwal. She has been conducting art classes in Vasco for the last 20 years and this is her 7th edition of showcasing artwork including that done by children, special children and women. Her movement watches out for stray puppies and other animals in need of rescue, healing and adoption. Ten percent of the proceeds of the exhibition goes towards animal welfare like feeding stays and taking care of them till they are adopted. THEATRE
Prayog Saanj: The Directorate of Art & Culture organizes month-end theatre activity called Prayog Saang every last Saturday of the month. The 79th performance this month is `Katha Asturi’ written by Pundalik Naik, directed by Shridhar Kamat Bambolkar. Music is by Sampada Cuncolienkar and actors are Jyoti Cuncolienkar and Prashanti Talpankar. The play is about various contemporary women’s issues and aims to create awareness about them.
