Petrol prices which had already gone up by 3.5 % due to central cess will go up again because of Value added tax imposed by State government. The State government has hiked the VAT on petrol to 27% and on diesel to 23%. This will make petrol costlier by Rs 1.3 and diesel by 0.60 paisa. The price of petrol in North Goa is currently around Rs 83 per liter while diesel is cheaper at Rs 80. Both the fuels are close to hitting a century. The price of petrol has been increase four time between June 4 2019 and February 6 2021. The price of diesel has been increased three times between June 14 and February 4.
IT may be recall that it may 2017 budget the than CM Manohar Parrikar had virtually removed the state value added tax -on petrol. The price of petrol was the lowest in the country. The cut in the price of VAT was restored by Laxminkant Parsekar and has now been hit for a six by Pramod Sawant.
GOAN COPS RAPPED FOR MURDER CHARGE.
The District Judge Irshad Aga granted anticipatory bail to anti IIT protestors at Melaulim in Sattari against whom FIRs was filed. The District Court slamed the COPs for applying section 507 which is only invoked in cases of attempted murder.
The District judge asked the judge who the protesters were trying to murder. The District Court stressed that sending protesters to jail as punishment is not justified.
