ONLY 15 IN UK, UNLIMITED IN GOA!

In view of the serious second wave of Covid-19 in the UK, only 15 guests are
permitted at weddings. In Goa the numbers are unlimited.

In theory according to central guidelines the number of guests at weddings
and social functions are to be limited a maximum of 200.

According to a friend who attended a wedding last week, nobody at the
reception including the bride and groom wore a mask. While the guests shook
their hands of the groom and bride and even hug them there were no sanitizers
at the venue.

A wedding caterer revealed that the minimum order he gets are for 400 to 800
guests for most weddings. The greater worry is that the number of weddings in
April and May this year will be much higher than last year when they were
postponed because of the lockdown.

A rush of catholic weddings are expected after Easter as no marriages will
be performed during the Lent period which ends with Easter Sunday.

MEGA VAX DRIVE FAILS

The attempt of the Goa Government to undertake a mega vaccination drive has
not been very successful. On Wednesday the third day of the drive there was the
drop of nearly 50% in the number of people who got vaccination with a first
dose. Only 2583 people turned up for the shot on Wednesday as compared to 5000
people on Monday and Tuesday.

Goa is very far from achieving the target of three lakh vaccinations. This
are for the 1.5 lakh senior citizens and for those between 45 and 60 who have
other health complications. Even frontline workers like security guards, police
and attendants are not getting themselves vaccinated.

The CM seems totally unconcern over the huge hike in cases of Maharashtra
and continues to insist that there will be no entry checks. Sawant also has
said that he would not impose a Janata Curfew but will increase testing.

If the tourist exhibits symptoms of covid-19 the hotel would be expect to
direct him to a testing facility. This is unlike the UK where those coming from
abroad have to quarantine themselves in the hotel at their expense for 14 days.
