Mathruchaya the Ponda Charity home has been declared a containment zone after 18 girls tested positive.
The facility has 45 students and 17 staff and more test reports are expected.

The Kavelem High School in Ponda is also sealed after several students of the Dhavali based orphanage tested positive. The girls were studying in class 10 and 12.

The number of active cases in Goa have cross 1013 with 98 cases reported on Monday, March 22 with three fatalities. The health minister has promised to take the action against those who do not wear mask and exceed the limit for marriage and social occasions. However there will be no curbs on coming to Goa.

A huge tourist influx is expected next week with Monday being the holiday for Holi which means the three day weekend for those from other states. Already the airfares have risen sharply to double to tripple the normal rate. They are expected to increase the number of covid cases in Goa.

In the country as the whole there has been a huge spike in covid-19 cases with Maharashtra taking the lead with more then 5000 cases a day.
