The judgement on the charge of rape against the founder editor of Tehelka, Tarun Tejpal is set for April 27. The special public prosecutor Francisco Tavora said arguments were completed and the matter is posted for April 27 for the final verdict. Tejpal has been accused of allegedly sexually assaulting a women at an Think event organized by Tehelka at the Bambolim Hyatt.
Tejpal was accused of sexually assaulting an employee on November 7 and 8 2013. He was arrested on November 30 after his petition for anticipatory bail was rejected. The Mumbai High Court also rejected an appeal by Tejpal against the framing of charges.
The CCTV footage provided by the prosecution regarding the assault and the statement of the survivor are the crucial evidence in the trail which was held by additional sessions judge Kshama Joshi.
Tejpal has been charged for offenses under section 354 (assaulting or using criminal force on women with an intend to outrage her modesty, 340 wrongful restrain and 376 ( person in position of trust or authority over women committing a rape of such women)
