31 OFFSHORE CASINO STAFF TEST POSITIVE FOR COVID!

The minister for Revenue Jennifer Monserrate is preventing the North Goa Collector from declaring the off shore casino as the containment zone. The standard procedure is to seal locations where a large number of Covid-19 positive cases are found.

It may be recalled that Mathruchaya and opharnage in POnda with the staff of 40 was sealed and declared a min\i containment zone after 15 students were found to be Covid-19 positive. Another school in Ponda which also reported multiple cases of covid-19 was also sealed.

The north Goa collector Ajit Roy who has been very prompt in declaring a Madhuban complex at Salai in Porvorim has been restrained from declaring from off shore casinos as containment zones. Presumably the offshore casinos have persuaded Babush, husband of the minister for Revenue who the boss of the collector from issuing the containment order. With the holi weekend coming up and a huge rush expected the casinos do not want to use the revenue from gamblers.

Meanwhile a leading doctor in Panaji told Goan Observer that he was tired appealing people to wear mask and follow the covid-19 protocol, “There is been complete indifference towards wearing mask. Over the past few day i have seen eight to ten fresh cases of covid-19 everyday. We have been working without a break and it looks as though people want us to die fighting covid-19 cases.

Meanwhile the associate professor of Forensic medicine has observed that for every thousand positive cases detected there are 14 fatalities. The mortality rate is 1.5 % of those detected as positive.

The number of cases are going up steeply with 189 cases. Panaji the casino capital has reported 163 cases on Thursday which includes the casino staff who are found positive.
