In the wake of the demolishing of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhiya the UP chief minister Yogi Adtiyanath has propose the demolishing of the Gyanvapi mosque in Varanasi.

The move has been stayed by the courts which have ordered a detail survey of the claim that the mosque was build under the ruining of the Muslim temple.

Muslim clerics are warned that if UP government went ahead with the demolished with the ancient mosque, hindu temples may be demolished to build mosque. Meanwhile the SC has ruled that Hindu temples can be built on the remains of the Muslim Mosque but this will be conditional on the stay of the construction when the final verdict is passed.
