A CELEBRATION OF  DEMOCRACY!

GOA has embarked on landmark journey celebrating 60 years to mark Liberation. The government of Goa is organizing hosting a number of conclaves and functions on the theme of “Celebration of Democracy.” These conclaves have been organized by the Goa Legislative Assembly and will be conducted by MIT School of Government (SOG), Pune, with support from Bharatiya Chhatra Sansad. The events will stretch over five days from November 8 to 12, 2021 at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Dona Paula, Panaji,. Chief Minister Pramod Sawant who is the chief patron and Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly Rajesh Patnekar will attend three main conclaves along with Rahul Karad who is the convener. During the conclaves the focus will be on three pillars of the country – women, youth and rural areas. All three segment face challenges and have the potential to grow and bear rewarding fruit. Speakers include leaders from a cross section of society including learned academicians, “think-tank” leaders, businessmen, philanthropists, social activists, eminent speakers and dignitaries from a host of varied fields. The National Women’s Parliament (NWP) will take place on November 7 & 8; the National Youth Parliament (NYP) will be on November 9 & 10 and the National Panchayat Parliament Goa (NPP) is dated on November 11. All conclaves will attempt to identify and deliver solutions to promote sustainable lifestyle changes locally and nationally.

Union Minister for Road, Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari arrives in Goa on Monday, November 1, 2021 for a two-day official visit. He will inaugurate the Missing Link between Loutolim & IDC, Verna on NH-566. Later he will visit Goa Medical College, Bambolim to inaugurate Telemedicine Services and in the evening interact with industrialists on a “Gati Shakti Master Plan” at Hotel Taj, Dona Paula. On November 2 the Union minister will sign an important MOU between Department of Sports (Govt of Goa) and Dilip Vengsarkar Cricket Academy (DVCA). He will also be taking a review meeting of NH projects and presentation of highway works along with Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant. There will be interaction with media people and a briefing on Nov2 and afterwards the minister will depart from Goa.

MOCK DRILL ON CHEMICAL

DISTRICT mock drill exercises on how to deal with chemical disasters are being conducted the Collectorate of North Goa District, Panaji, at Deccan Fine Chemicals premises at their Santa Monica Works at Corlim on October 30, 2021 from 10am onwards. This drill includes the setting up of triage camps, mobilization of ambulances, medical staff, shifting of rescued personnel to trauma centre/hospitals and other supporting activities. There will be police security at the venue but the public is requested not to panic for this is only a mock drill in preparation for any future emergencies.
