I AM THINKING that from now onwards I will take a little more interest in my cardio-vascular system and was reading up an old issue of this American journal “Well Being Journal” a few copies of which were sent to me by my US-settled sister. There’s been a lot of talk of how nitric oxide or the happiness molecule ultimately indicating the state of our cardiovascular health.
Researcher Christiane Northrup (MD) in an article titled “Nitric Oxide, The Spark of Life, Feel Good Molecule” has so much fascinating data to enlighten us. So nitric oxide is a simple molecule made of one atom of nitrogen and one atom of oxygen, but “when it’s produced in the environment by car engines andpower plants, nitric oxide is a toxic air pollutant.” But the quantity and quality of nitric oxide made in our body is an indicator of our health and how far away from doomsday we are!
Nitric oxide is the mother of all “feel-good” molecules and it isn’t illegal, immoral, or the least bit fattening! Or so says Christiane Northrup, “Nitric oxide is the actual molecule that determines physical, emotional, spiritual, and sexual wellness in menopausal women (and everyone else)….Nitric oxide is an invisible, odourless gas that your body makes, mostly in the lining of your blood vessels in the endothelium, an extremely thin but very important layer. Other areas in your body produce nitric oxide as well, including lung cells, white blood cells, and neurons (such as the nerve cells in the brain.”
The long and short of it being that as we age and degenerate courtesy our ignorant or cussed lifestyles, careless about all the industrial junk we put in our mouth to feed body beautiful and consequently suffer heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, et al…along with all that our arteries, veins and capillaries turn to concrete (I remember a GMC doctor once taking out from his pocket to show me a piece of calcified artery he had extracted from a dead patient). As blood pressure gets affected by a narrowing cardio-vasculature system we lose our suppleness of movement and wake up feeling tight and unable to move till some warming up exercises…
What to do! Try to get back your lost nitric oxide production if you can by drinking and eating right! If you can soften and widen blood vessels, improve circulation, ease high blood pressure, the danger of heart disease, stroke, cancer and diabetes (all linked with cellular inflammation which restricts blood flow by lowering nitric oxide levels) will come down and you will start waking up more joyfully. Good-luck, my dears.
ON that note it is avjo, selamat datang, poiteverem, au revoir, arrivedecci and vachun yeta for now!
