MAINTAIN COMMUNAL HARMONY!

OUR politicians need to take a pledge to maintain the communal harmony of Goa and not Goans!

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant advised Goans on Independence Day (Aug15) to take a pledge not to fall prey to any attempts aimed at disturbing the aged-old amity in the state.

What does he really mean with such advice? That we Goans should not question anything about all the trouble-makers coming to Goa with communal agenda? Or instigate programs of favourite statues or idols being installed anywhere and everywhere and especially in the middle of the night? All these troublemakers  drag religious agendas into everything and flex their muscles threatening if anyone asks anything  and are only too happy to file FIRs at different police stations in Goa!

Real Goans have lived in communal harmony and will never fight amongst themselves on silly issues of statues and religion even in the near future. And that’s because Goans are culturally civilised and descent and follow the religion of humanity.

Since it is politicians who’re fomenting communal trouble they should take a pledge more than anyone else before issuing senseless statements through the media! Please don’t divide Goans on religious lines in today’s enlightened timesyou’re your own long-term political survival!

STAY OUT OF THE WATER DURING MONSOON!

TWO children of French origin were rescued by Drishti Marine’s lifesavers off Mandrem beach after they got trapped in a rip tide and were unable to swim back to shore on Aug 23, 2023.  The boys were 13 and 16 years, respectfully. They were rescued by lifesavers Siddhesh, Rohit, Hiran and Nagesh who were on duty. They rushed to the children’s  aid and brought them back to shore using a rescue tube, surfboard and a jetski. Their vitals were found to be stable after examination. The incident occurred at a time when swimming is Goan beaches is banned as it usually is during the monsoon months.

“Goa’s beaches remain closed due to the ongoing monsoon season as the sea conditions continue to be rough and unpredictable. In this light, it is necessary to constantly monitor children while on the beach and not allow them to venture into the sea, no matter how shallow the water may appear,” says CEO of Drishti Marine  Navin Awasthi.

Also  parents or guardians on the each should alert r the nearest lifesaving station on the beach if their children or family members are going into the sea against better advice. Over the last two years we have had to rescue 91 minors with maximum rescues reported at Baga beach (19). While Calangute beach and Morjim beach reported 17 and 13 rescues respectively, eight minors were rescued off Vagator beach, six off Morjim, four each off Candolim and Palolem beaches in the same period. Eleven minors were administered first-aid after the rescue.

We wish to tell all your readers, Indian and foreign tourists alike that the beaches of Goa are officially out of limits for swimming during the monsoon season, await further notice when the sea beaches are declared safe.

OBSCENE LAND GRABS IN GOA!

“GOA stands tall!” says the daily The Goan as the Number 1 leisure destination of India. Goa tops because of 32 five-star hotels, one for every 98 sq km. The next highest is Kerala with one for 925 km (!) followed by Maharashtra with one for 8,800 km (!!!)…This is the state of newspapers around here, basically wanting us to “stand tall” as the place with the biggest and most obscene land-grab in the country.
