CURTAINS FOR 47th IFFI: The 8-day film festival came to a smooth closure with governor Smt Mridula Sinha leading various dignitaries at a ceremonious prize distribution function at Dr Shyama Mukherjee Stadium on Nov 28, 2016. The Golden Peacock award of Rs 40 lakh went to Iranian film Daughter, director-producer Reza Mirkirami collected the award. Other award-winning films: Rauf, Mellow Mud, The Throne, Ra Ra, Cold of Kalander and Apology.

IFFI SPREAD: The food courtyard Yaara-di-Haaveli at INOX complex serves rich north Indian Punjabi fare, and has a bar attached. Ranchikud self-help groups outside at the Campal promenade offer fresh Goan treats like pohe, polle, sheviyon, sizzling hot onion and batat kappam at tea-time. There’s also sugar cane juice out, but it’s being served in not-so-eco-friendly plastic cups!
THE lovey-dovey pair of peacocks was back on their flying magic carpet in the clouds of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) from November 20-28, 2016 in Goa. The razzmatazz of superstars was missing at the inauguration at Dr Shyama Mukherjee Stadium and so were the crowds in a fairly low-key start to the festival.
