7th LITFEST OPENS: At the inaugural ceremony at Maquinez Palace in Panjim on Dec 11 there were several highlights including the unveiling of a special GALF-16 painting by Padma Shri-award winning Goan artist Laxman Pai. CURTAINS FOR 47th IFFI: The 8-day film festival came to a smooth closure with governor Smt Mridula Sinha leading various dignitaries at a ceremonious prize distribution function at Dr Shyama Mukherjee Stadium on Nov 28, 2016. The Golden Peacock award of Rs 40 lakh went to Iranian film Daughter, director-producer Reza Mirkirami collected the award. Other award-winning films: Rauf, Mellow Mud, The Throne, Ra Ra, Cold of Kalander and Apology.
